Do you have a big family living in a big house? Are you tired of paying bills for all that wasted water and energy? Maybe it is time for you to purchase a new tankless natural gas water heater… If so, what is better than Rinnai RUC98iN Ultra Series natural gas tankless water heater for your large household?
Energy Savings & Performance
Rinnai RUC98iN, with its maximum flow rate of 9.8 GPM, promises that you will no longer run out of hot water. Even in a house with three bathrooms, you will constantly have hot water, even if you run up to four fixtures at a time! Even at low flow rates, it will supply hot water for you with its minimum activation rate of 0.4 GPM. However, what this unit promises as well as endless hot water is energy savings!
First of all, Rinnai RUC98iN is only activated when there is a demand for hot water. At other times it is in standby mode and when in this mode it draws only 2 watts of electric energy. When actively working, it draws up to 64 watts of energy and depending on your usage its gas burn rate changes from 15,500 BTU to 199,000 BTU, which is quite a wide range. With these rates, it has earned an energy star. To put it into a percentage, we can say that it is up to 96% energy efficient.
In addition to its energy-saving features, we must mention here that Rinnai RUC98iN has two models on the market. One of them is for residential use and the other is for commercial use. The one for residential use has the capacity of heating water from 95oF to 140oF. On the other hand, the commercial model can heat water up to 185oF.
Rinnai RUC98iN is also very user-friendly with its digital display, power button, and buttons for temperature settings. On one hand it is as easy as a child can use but on the other hand, it is very safe as you can lock the temperature button so that little children will not be able to interfere with it and eventually burn themselves.
Furthermore, Rinnai RUC98iN complies with nitrogen oxide emission standards which makes it an eco-friendly appliance.
Design & Installation
Rinnai RUC98iN is not only more powerful than most of the natural gas tankless water heaters on the market but is also a bit heavier and larger. It is 26 inches tall, 10 inches thick and weighs 61.7 pounds. However, its weight and dimensions do not keep it from looking pretty good. It has a gunmetal grey exterior which we think looks quite futuristic and fashionable. Also, with respect to its proportions, it has bigger water and gas inlets and outlets.
Rinnai RUC98iN is quite tricky to install. Therefore, we believe that it is best installed by Rinnai service personnel. Also, an installation by Rinnai professionals is required for the warranty of the product to be effective. The positive aspect about its installation is that it can be placed indoors. It only requires either concentric or twin-pipe PVC venting.
Assuming that it is installed by Rinnai aftersales personnel, Rinnai RUC98iN has a warranty of 12 years on the heat exchanger, 5 years on all the other parts and one year for labor. However, if you are purchasing the commercial model please note that the warranty on the heat exchanger will drop to 5 years.
